Alabama State Representative Mary Sue McClurkin Named Chair of National Organization of Women State Legislators-2/17/09

State Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin (R-District 43) Represented Alabama at the National Gathering of State Legislators 12/12/08

Representative Mary Sue McClurkin was elected on 4-5-06 by her fellow Shelby County Legislators to serve as Chairman of the Shelby County Delegation. Outgoing Chairman Representative Mike Hill says,

"After serving as Chairman for many years, it was time for me to step down as Chair of the Delegation to devote more time to my business as I have been very stretched as a Legislator. We elected Mary Sue to lead our Delegation by a unanimous vote and it shows how much we think of her leadership abilities as a Legislator and how proud we are to have her in the Legislature. As a veteran Legislator in the middle of a system that is very difficult many times, we feel as if Mary Sue has the skills and determination to make the correct leadership decisions not only in the best interests of Shelby County but also our great state."
